TOURNAMENT INFORMATION and APPLICATION

 

THE THUNDER SOCCER FEST

ELIGIBILITY
 
The tournament is open to League and Premier Select teams (S1, S2 & S3 as defined by US Youth Soccer). RECREATIONAL TEAMS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR PLAY IN THE U8 DIVISION ONLY.
 
USYS Sanctioned Tournament - The THUNDER SOCCER FEST is a USYS-sanctioned tournament through the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA). All teams must be affiliated with either USYS, SAY or US Club Soccer and must be in good standing. Age Group divisions are for the 2008/2009 seasonal year.
 
Application and Fees - a separate online application for each team must be submitted by August 8, 2008 along with full payment.  Entry fees are:
 
 
·         $575 for U8 thru U10 (7v7)
·         $595 for U11-U12 (8v8)
·         $795 for U12-U19 (11v11)

An administrative fee of $25.00 will be charged for teams withdrawing prior to acceptance.
 
Checks MUST BE POSTMARKED by AUGUST 8, 2008!
 
Notice of acceptance and non-acceptance will be sent on or about August 15, 2008.
 
Age Group/Length of Games - The USYS seasonal year begins on September 1st of each year. Age Groups and corresponding birth dates for the 2008/2009 seasonal year are:
  • U8 (7v7) 8/1/2000 – 50 minutes
  • U9 (7v7) 8/1/1999 – 50 minutes
  • U10 (7v7) 8/1/1998 – 50 minutes
  • U11 (8v8) 8/1/1997 - 60 minutes
  • U12 (8v8) 8/1/1996 - 60 minutes
  • U12 (11v11)8/1/1996 – 60 minutes
  • U13 8/1/1995 -  60 minutes
  • U14 8/1/1994 - 60 minutes
  • U15 8/1/1993 - 60 minutes
  • U16 8/1/1992 - 60 minutes
  • U17 8/1/1991 - 60 minutes
  • U19 8/1/1989 - 60 minutes
 
Tournament Roster/Loan/Guest Player Policy - Maximum number of players on a team’s tournament roster is 12 for U8-U10; 14 for U11-U12 (8v8); 18 for U12-U19 (11v11).
 
Teams requesting to use loan/guest players may have no more than the specified maximum roster, whose number may include up to 3 guest players.
 
Format/Competition/Rules/Awards - The tournament offers divisions for U8 through U19 boys and girls.
 
Minimum of three games is guaranteed.
 
All games shall be played in accordance with FIFA Laws, except as specifically modified by Tournament Rules. A complete set of rules is posted on the tournament website.
 
Individual player trophies will be presented to all champions and finalists in the U11-U19 age groups
Participation awards will be presented to all players in the U8-U10 age groups.
 
Referees - USSF three man referee system will be used for all U12 through U19 games (11v11 format ONLY).
 
Registration  - Team registration will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29th at the DISCOVERY Sports Center located at the Maryland SoccerPlex.  Certified 2008/2009 rosters, player passes, NON-notarized medical release forms, Release of Liability waivers, and Permission to Travel forms (Only teams from outside Region I, NJ and CT teams need permission to travel forms) will be checked at this time. All players must have a player pass for 2008/2009 approved by a duly authorized registrar of their state association or US Club Soccer.
 
Hotel Accommodations - Out-of-state teams requiring overnight hotel accommodations are required to make their reservations thru the Conference and Visitors Bureau of Montgomery County. This will ensure that teams receive the highest quality service during the tournament. Please check the link on the tournament website to make reservations.
 
Tournament Cancellation Policy - In the event the entire tournament is cancelled, the tournament’s policy is to refund entry fees after all incurred costs are covered.
